INTERVIEW WITH MY FRIEND

1..Before you came in contact with this scam, did you know any tips about things to look out for while doing anything online?

Yes I heard about people getting scammed on craigslist and other sites but I never thought it would happen to me.

2. what type of online scam was this, meaning was it one where you got an email or did you apply for something somewhere?

I had got a email about a online  shopping job.

3. what exact details can you give on how you came in contact with this scam and what happened step by step?

Well like I said I had got a email about a secret shopping job and I was interested so I emailed them back. They told me I was perfect for the job and asked me for my address and phone number so they could send me the information about the job. A week later I got a envelope with a money order but that's all that was in the envelope. It was on a sat I had got this in the mail. It was for 950 dollars and it was perfect time cause I had my electric about o be shut off. So I cashed it at a local store I use to work at and when I cashed it it was the next day on Sunday so they did not have the full amount in the drawer. So they had me spend about 200 in the store. I got grocery's and gas. I went home and I paid my electric bill in full. The next day on Monday I got another envelope with instructions on what I was to do with the money. Well they had not told me until I got these instructions that I was to keep so much and wire the rest to someone else. I then got suppious and called the store I cashed it at and told them what I got in the mail. The owner of the store said let me do some info and call you back. About a hour later she called me and told me that the money order was fake. I freaked out and asked her what I had to do. She told me she was not going to turn it over to the courts and that I had to pay her back in full. So I gave her my drivers license and mine and my husbands debit cards witch are direct deposit for our ssi go's on. When are money came in she took what I owed her and it was everything we had for the month. We are now not able to pay rent we have nothing and got evicted. After she was paid back in full she gave me my things back and the money order. Since it was a postal money order I took it to the post office and now they are doing there investigation into it to find out who sent it and catch the person. This has been a very horrible experience for me.

4. if this was an email type scam do you still have a copy of the email,

if so can you send it in your reply as an attachment

No I do not I had erased all my emails like I do daily and I now wish I had kept it.

5. what have you learned from this?

If it seems to good to be true then it probably is and not to be so trusting.

6. what tips would you give to others so that they dont fall victim of a scam like this?

If you get offered any kind of job online ask a lot of questions. Also check the email out and look for signs. If you do get a check or money order in the mail please have it checked out first and if it is fake take it to your local police department right away. And if it seems to good to be true just ignore and delete the email.

7. what will you do if you cant raise the money by the end of the month

I do not know all I can do is pray that i can raise this money. I feel this happened for a reason and that God is not going to just let us go homeless. He is watching over us and he has a plan for me and my family.

Even though she didnt have a copy of the email, she did have a pic of the check they sent her and a pic of her eviction. Bellow you will find those pics along with the link where shes trying to raise money for a place to live.
